Interview by Ally Andryshak
Where are you from?
“I live in Yonkers but I was born in Colombia, and raised. Kind I grew up going back and forth. The first time I came here [to America] was when I was two.”
What do you like studying?
“Well, I want to major in biochem and minor in psychology. That’s for med school; I want to be a pediatrician. I love kids. I’ve always liked kids. I wanted to be a doctor in tenth grade. I like science and I like helping people, so why not? But I also kind of want to be a teacher. So, we’ll see what happens after I graduate from undergrad.”
What do you like about kids?
“I don’t know, they’re just so open minded! There is no bad in them; they’re just kids and I love that about them.”
What inspired you to want to go into medicine?
“My uncle is a surgeon and when I was 11 he took me to see a surgery… so I saw a surgery and it was really cool… it was in the arm, on the tendons… For a while I wanted to be a forensic doctor, but dead bodies are not my thing.”
What is your idea of success?
“I feel like it’s a combination of being fulfilled and being in a good economic place.”
