On Nov. 29, 2016, you can make a difference in our campus community.#GivingTuesday annually
falls on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. After a weekend that is filled with extensive shopping sprees of all sorts, this campaign acts as a response to consumerism.
The countrywide initiative encourages people to give back to their community, whether it is through donations to charitable groups or volunteering within your local community. This day encourages kindness and gratitude to officially kick o the holiday season.
Here at Manhattanville, #GivingTuesday will be in full swing soon enough! In the past, our campus has set up donation stations in the residence halls, Brownson Hall, and in the dining hall, with rewards of pizza and prizes. This year, the “Dorm Storm” will be the only event taking place on campus, but online donations are still being encouraged. O -campus, there are numerous #GivingTuesday parties that will be held in locations across the country to encourage Manhattanville alumni to give back.
Donations will be accepted throughout the day as the College tries to reach its donation goal. The college encourages alumni, staff, and students to make donations to the Fund for Manhattanville.
These donations support our campus and allow for various areas, such as the Andrew Bodenrader Writing Center, the Duchesne Center, and the library, to thrive. Additionally, the money donated to the Fund for Manhattanville goes to campus life and scholarships as well. The continuous donations to the Fund for Manhattanville are necessary to enhance student experience.
#GivingTuesday encourages communities to support one another and embraces the season of giving. Manhattanville College is a community, and by making donations you help claim the future of the College. Post- graduation, alumni can look back and see what the community has been able to do together—and be sure to remember this when students are knocking on your door asking for your support for the Fund for Manhattanville!
