[Purchase, NY] — To raise awareness about the critical need to provide every child with the tools to inspire a love for learning, reading and creativity, Manhattanville graduate students organized the launch of the Give HUGS, Give THANKS Challenge, starting November 1, 2014 until the end of the year.
The challenge is hosted by the non-profit organization Give More HUGS and will take place on social media to inspire people to take time out during this holiday season to give hugs and thanks to those special people in their lives. “The idea is that people post a video or a picture of three individuals, stating why they are thankful for them; each person that is given a hug and a thanks will then be challenged to do the same within 48 hours” stated Yaneris Michel, graduate student in Marketing Communication Management, who is coordinating the campaign.
According to Sossy Vega, outreach coordinator of Give More HUGS and graduate student in Marketing Communication as well, “By this challenge, we will unite with supporters worldwide to join us, not only in showing love and appreciation to those closest to them, but by doing so, we will also bring attention to GMH’s mission of uniting giving souls to help provide youth with the tools to inspire a love for learning, reading, and creativity.”
The two Dominican students united with other classmates of their Master program to work on the campaign launch and mentioned with excitement that if someone is challenged and do not complete it, that individual is asked to donate any amount of money that they feel comfortable with to Give More HUGS or help support the organization by visiting their website www.givemorehugs.org for more information.
These activities are part of a global effort to draw attention to the lack of equality in education and how important every child deserves the best educational experience to help them launch their dreams and careers.
