After supporting Justin Bieber on tour in a girl group called “The Stunners”, Tinashe has been on the move after releasing her mixtape in 2011. The 21 year old R&B singer released her debut album Aquarius on Oct. 7 under RCA records. Her debut is a catchy mix of soft songs that inspires you to get lifted, not turnt up. Tinashe is brightly blazing a trail for music’s future in a genre that is so competitive with artists like Jhene Aiko, Sza, Willow Smith or Cassie. tinasheOn the single ‘Pretend’, it’s basically impossible to decode whether Tinashe and A$AP Rocky are playing friends who are secretly in love, or lovers who are secretly out of love, or anything in between. The song is a total highlight, a bubblegum fantasy that explores the lies we tell ourselves in the name of love. The breakout single “2 On” feating Schoolboy Q can definitely be a hit on dance floors for the rest of 2014 and 2015. With DJ Mustard’s bounce and Schoolboy Q’s lively bars give this single that feel-good Jam. On the single “How many times” the echoes of Janet Jackson are no accident. “How Many Times” flips a sample of Jackson’s “Funny How Time Flies”. This album flashback to the past melodies of Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, and Ashanti; Tinashe’s soft voice resembles these legendary woman. Tinashe’s debut album sold 19,000 copies and debuting at #19 on the BillBoard Charts. That amount is right in the middle of her projected sales. At a young age Tinashe has more to come with career, as she blazes for R&B Stardom.
